This Saturday May, 4, 2024 is the first Saturday of the month and is therefore our regular volunteer workday in the Natural Areas of John McLaren Park.  This month we meet at the bottom of the Mansell Heights (yes, that's its official name) grasslands.  Starting at 9:30 AM we will be eradicating Wild Radish, Italian Thistle, and Mustard from the grasslands.  We work until noon.  SF Rec and Park will provide tools and gloves, water and snacks.  Dress in layers, maybe include a water resistant layer as the forecast is for a chance of showers.  Long sleeves and long pants are recommended but not necessary, since we won't be killing Blackberry.  Shoes/Boots with good grip are a must.  The grasslands slopes are tricky wet or dry.   SFH3 will provide snacks and BEER.  I will be driving workers from the Glen Park BART Station to the worksite.  Contact me by return email or phone or text.  I probably won't do a chalk and flour trail to the worksite from the Park entrance.  Virtually the entire grassland is visible from the parking area on Ervine St.  This is probably our last trip to the grasslands this year, since they dry out and become impossible to work.  It's been a great year for the volunteer workforce this year.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
